New Delhi: An 11-year-old minor died under mysterious circumstances on Saturday night in Rohini after he was allegedly beaten by his classmates. According to the parents, the deceased minor had a fight with his classmates.

After he came home, he was feeling uneasy. On Saturday, he was taken to a nearby hospital but was referred to Safdarjung Hospital where he breathed his last. Police has identified the deceased as Vishal, a Class 5 student in a school in Rohini.

He is survived by his parents and two younger siblings. The police has not registered a case as of now and is waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death. Probe reveals that it all began on Friday when Vishal supposedly got involved in a fight with his classmates over a trivial row.

He returned home, had his dinner but didn’t disclose about the scuffle that had broken out at school. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when the boy complained of acute abdominal pain and found it difficult to go to school.

In their complaint to the police, the bereaved parents stated that their son has been murdered by his classmates.

They further told the police that Vishal was reluctant to go to school. He was taken to Ambedkar Hospital from where he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital. There, he passed away on Saturday night.

The jurisdictional police was informed and a team visited the hospital. It said that initial medical investigation revealed no external injuries on the victim’s body.

However, the police will look into the case from all angles. “Based on the accusations and request by the father of the deceased, police has requested the hospital authorities to constitute a medical board to conduct a post mortem,” said a senior police official.
