Delhi police arrests poppy straw dealer
The police arrested Subhash after information was received that he would come near NH-1 to supply the contraband to his contact.
New Delhi: An inter-state drug peddler was arrested by the Delhi police who dealt in supplying high-quality poppy straws from Guru Teg Bahadur Memorial near NH-1 on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Subhash, a resident of Kurukshetra district (Haryana). 60 kilograms of poppy straws have been recovered from the accused.
The police arrested Subhash after information was received that he would come near NH-1 to supply the contraband to his contact. “We knew that Subhash, who has been supplying poppy straws in Delhi and in other states would come near the Guru Teg Bahadur Memorial. We had deputed a seven man team under the supervision of ACP Sanay Sehrawat to the spot. He was immediately apprehended upon identification,” said a senior police official.
Subhash told the police that he had been supplying narcotics substances for the past one year. “Subhash used to procure the poppy straws from Madhya Pradesh from a Mewat based supplier by the name of Jahul. who has been supplying the contraband to Delhi and NCR region.The members in his gang would pose as a scrap dealers and would carry the drugs in various cavities inside trucks to conceal themselves,” the official added. The police are in search of the gang members.
