New Delhi: In an attempt to score political points out of the Union government’s decision to grant ownership rights to people owning properties in unauthorised colonies, the Delhi BJP is planning a mega rally at the historic Ramlila Maidan on December 22, which is likely to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On November 8, Mr Modi held an interaction with the representatives of the unauthorised colonies at his residence.

On October 23, the Union Cabinet decided to confer ownership rights to the people of the unauthorised colonies, which will benefit 40 lakh residents of these colonies.

A senior party functionary told this newspaper that a mega rally will be organised at the Ramlila Maidan, in which the residents of the unauthorised colonies will participate in large numbers.

The Delhi BJP on Saturday protested near the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office against the baseless allegations levelled by the party in the Rafale jet deal, two days after the Supreme Court rejected pleas to review its judgment giving clean chit to the Modi government.

Led by Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, the party workers raised slogans against the AAP and demanded an apology from it for trying to malign the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing the protesting BJP workers, Mr Tiwari said that the decision of the Supreme Court has proved that Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal indulged in mis-propaganda against our Prime Minister and due to this every citizen of Delhi feels insulted.

Leader of opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta said that the mis-propaganda of Mr Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi against Prime Minister Narender Modi shows that these leaders are not cultured persons and for opposing a particular leader, these people are insulting every citizen of the country.
