New Delhi: In a hit-and-run case, where a 19-year-old Delhi University student was killed while another female student and a police constable were left injured, a civil service aspirant and a graduate from Agra University were arrested.

In a swift action, a police team arrested the accused driver, Vaibhav Vyas. He has been booked under Sections 279,337, and 304A of the IPC. Vaibhav was driving the Maruti Alto car which caused the accident. He had fled from the scene abandoning the vehicle. Based on the car registration number, the police team learnt that it belonged to one Ramesh Chander Vyas. However, the owner could not be traced at the given address.

On the basis of the driver’s license, which was recovered from the offending vehicle, police raided a residence in Gautam Budh University Campus in Greater Noida. The owner of the vehicle was traced and the accused was arrested. He was, however, released on bail.

On Friday morning, Vaibhav drove his car in a rash and negligent manner and collided with a motorcycle driven by a Delhi police constable. He subsequently hit two pedestrians, both students of Ramjas College. The accused ran away after leaving his car on the spot.

During treatment, injured Kapil Ratnoo (19), a student of Ramjas College, succumbed to his injuries while Ct. Mukesh suffered grievous injuries. The injured female student, identified as Jagriti, was admitted at the Civil Lines Trauma Centre. A probe was initiated based on the statement given by Ct. Mukesh.
