Social media helps trace lost child
Minor boy goes shopping with mother, loses way in market.
New Delhi: For harried parents, swift action by the police and social media tool WhatsApp came in for the rescue of a five-year-old boy who had lost his way back to his mother in a crowded market in Vishwas Nagar in East Delhi on Tuesday.
However, a sigh of relief was heaved by the parents when after a three hours long search, the child, identified as Subhan Ali, was reunited with his parents. It all began when Subhan had gone with his mother to a market on Tuesday evening. While Iram, the mother got busy in the market, Subhan managed to slip away and lost his way back to his mother. Fortunately, Subhan was spotted by the patrolling team of Farsh Bazaar police who were patrolling the area and noticed the minor crying incessantly.
The police said that seeing him unattended and crying, the cops immediately approached him and took him to the police station. The cops then fed him water and normalised the child. After vain attempts to get his address, the presence of mind shown by SHO Sushil Sharma proved fruitful after he clicke the picture of Subhan and circulated it on various WhatsApp groups.
The message read, “One boy namely Subhan… has been found roaming alone at Gali no 14 Vishwas Nagar. He is sitting in PS Farsh Bazar. Any clue about his parents/ house be informed accordingly,” Luckily, one of the WhatsApp group member, identified as Deepankar Kumar, identified Subhan and called the police.
Soon, Mr Sharma along with the child’s father reached the jurisdictional police station and reunited the child with the parents. Elated over their child being found, the parents thanked the police, who within three hours rescued the missing child.
