New Delhi: Two men, including a policeman, were arrested for allegedly robbing a 22-year-old man in east Delhi's Ghazipur, police said on May 17.

The victim, Tasleem, works as a delivery boy in Noida and had come to Ghazipur on May 15 to take money from his father who has a business there.

While he was walking on a footpath, two men on a motorcycle stopped him and said that they were police personnel, the police said. They accused him of harassing women and told him that they would be taking him to a police station. However, they took him to a public toilet in Kalyanpuri where they thrashed him and took the money his father had given him, the police said.

They later dropped him at Kondli Pul from where he informed the police. Police identified the accused as Idrish and Jai Prakash. They were identified with the help of a watchman of the public toilet where the accused had taken the victim.

Idrish was posted as a constable in Shahdara district while Prakash is associated with the police's citizen volunteer programme, Police Mitra. Idrish had earlier also faced departmental action.
