New Delhi: If your throat runs dry while you take a stroll down the Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, just stop by the jurisdictional police station to quench your thirst with cold water which is being made available to the common people.
The Delhi police, in a humanitarian move to bridge the gap between police and public, has installed a new water cooler to provide drinking water to the public.
Speaking to this correspondent, station inspector Amit Issar, the officer behind the initiative, said that the area has a large footfall. Over thousands of people cross the police station every day, battling the blazing sun.
“With the mercury rising higher each day, the station staff decided to do something for the people. I shared the idea with my staff and all came forward to donate an amount for the water cooler,” said Mr Issar.
The officials of Desh Bandhu Gupta police station believe that with such initiatives, a fear of stepping in the police station will change.
