Mohalla clinics: Kejriwal attacks Centre for altering DDA rules

New Delhi: Launching a diatribe on the Centre, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said his government was not given land to set up ‘mohalla’ clinics. 

Referring to media reports that the DDA had changed the land use to allot a land pocket for an NGO close to a senior BJP leader Vijay Goel, he said it is a pity that the ruling AAP wasn’t even allowed to set up clinics on its own land.

Citing a newspaper report, Mr Kejriwal said he is pained that the land pockets are not allotted to the government to open new mohalla clinics. “It pains me dat Delhi Govt  not being given land 4 setting moh clinics. Even Del Govt’s own land not being allowed for moh clinics,” he tweeted, along with a newspaper clipping. “

Speaking at a press conference, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said Mr Goel’s NGO was allotted a land pocket on GT Karnal road throwing to wind all rules of Delhi Development Authority (DDA). Even the layout plan was altered to make the allocation.

“The DDA had given this land pocket for construction of a post office and the land located adjoining to a school run by Mr Goel had been used as a playground by constructing another gate till no,” he said. People say that the Union minister has been eyeing this land pocket. The DDA rules were then altered and the land was allocated to his NGO for the construction of a toy bank, Mr Bharadwaj added He alleged that the government had been repeatedly asking for land pockets for construction of new mohalla clinics.
