Delhi: Man strangles wife, kills her in front of son; arrested
The accused revealed that he suspected his wife of being in an extra-marital relationship.
New Delhi: A 29-year-old man was arrested in Delhi after he allegedly killed his wife in front of their four-year-old son, whom he assumed to be sleeping, the police said on Tuesday.
The accused strangulated his wife as he suspected her of infidelity, they said.
On Sunday, the body of a woman was found at her home in Amberhai village in southwest Delhi's Dwarka. The woman lived with her husband and three children.
Neighbours informed the police that a quarrel had taken place between the couple on Saturday. They also told the police that they had seen the accused leaving the home on
Sunday.
The couple's four-year-old son, who was awake at the time of the incident while his other two siblings were asleep, informed police that his father had strangulated his mother, the police said. The couple had got married in 2010.
Six teams were constituted to nab the accused, said Shibesh Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest).
One of the teams was sent to his native village in Bihar while three other teams were sent to the New Delhi, Old Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations, he said.
The accused was subsequently arrested on Monday from Amberhai village here.
He revealed that he suspected his wife of being in an extra-marital relationship, said the DCP.
He told the police that he had shifted to Delhi from his village because of his suspicion but after shifting here, he again got suspicious of her.
The couple had an altercation and he killed his wife, the police said.
