Cops carry our raids after black money sting

The sting operations show how unscrupulous people are involved in exchange of demonetised notes of black money in different sectors.

New Delhi: A day after the TV news channels had carried out sting operations following demonetisation of higher denomination notes, the Delhi police crime branch, along with the Income-Tax department, on Thursday conducted raids and searches at various places all across the national capital to unearth the corruption of black money.

The move comes after the ministry of information and broadcasting sent CD’s of genuine broadcast of sting operations conducted by several television channels following demonetisation of higher currency notes.

“The sting operations show how unscrupulous people are involved in exchange of demonetised notes of black money in different sectors i.e. gold jewellery , real estate among other sectors and promising conversion into legal money by charging some commission. The ministry of information and broadcasting sent a CDs of the actual broadcast to the Delhi Police on Wednesday for taking appropriate action. The Crime Branch with the directorate of investigations, I-T department, conducted searches at several places all over Delhi,” said joint commissioner of police, crime, Ravindra Yadav.
