Amit Shah upset over infighting in Delhi BJP unit

Shah unhappiness was revealed by Jaju in his address at the first Delhi BJP state executive meet.

New Delhi: BJP president Amit Shah is unhappy with the differences cropping up among the leadership of the party’s Delhi unit after announcement of new office bearers. Sources said that BJP vice-president and Delhi incharge Shyam Jaju and state unit president Manoj Tiwari are on different pitch over the new team announced on Sunday, as some of the names recommend by the Mr Tiwari were struck down by the state in-charge.

Mr Shah unhappiness was revealed by Mr Jaju in his address at the first Delhi BJP state executive meet held on Wednesday after appointment of Mr Tiwari at Mukhmailpur village in Burari area.

A senior party leader, present in the meeting, told this newspaper that Mr Jaju, in his address, told the workers that in the morning, he met Mr Shah at a function in which senior Congress leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari joined BJP. “Mr Jaju informed us that at the sideline of Mr Tiwari’s programme, Mr Shah, citing news report, asked him what’s going on in the Delhi unit. The party’s national president conveyed his unhappiness and asked Mr Jaju to control the situation by taking everyone along,” he added.

Difference between Mr Jaju and Mr Tiwari came out in the open over appointment of office bearers and districts president. A senior party leaders said that Mr Jaju, using his position, ensured appointment of several people close to him at key position in the new team headed by Mr Tiwari, which was opposed by the state president. “Difference among both the leaders was not well received by Mr Shah,” he added.

Meanwhile, leaders present in the executive meet said that Union minister Vijay Goel, while appealing BJP workers to work for the party, allegedly named a senior Union minister for trying to throw him out of Delhi politics. “Mr Goel said that a senior minister is trying hard to throw him out of Delhi politics by offering a seat in Uttar Pradesh to contest elections,” said the leader present in the meeting.

Speaking at the executive meet, Mr Tiwari appealed workers to dedicate next three months for the party so that it win the upcoming civic polls and the process of the end of Arvind Kejriwal government start in the national capital.  

“Coming municipal elections and the possible by-elections to 22 Assembly seats, all the BJP workers will have to dedicate three months for the party so that we may win the civic polls and start the process of the end of Kejriwal government,” said Mr Tiwari.
