New Delhi: While the city has seen a spurt in crime against trafficking of women and assault against them done by placement agencies and respective families where they have gone for hire, a woman civil judge, attached to Saket court, has filed a cheating and fraud complaint with the police after she was allegedly duped by a city-based placement agency for hiring housemaids.

According to the complaint, the accused company by name Suman Housemaids has allegedly cheated the woman judge on the pretext of sending her the maid and took Rs 6,000 in advance, but didn’t send the domestic help.

It all began when the woman civil judge, Tyagita Singh, attached to Saket court was looking for a domestic help and searched for service providers in Dehi. Ms Singh came across Suman Housemaids Services and called the number provided on Justdial. A representative from the said company promised to provide hassle-free services and gave options to Ms Singh to choose as to which woman she would prefer to do her house chores.

In her complaint, the judge stated, “I made a call at the Suman Housemaid Services and spoke t o the representative. He sent me a few pictures of girls and women to choose from on my WhatsApp number. After deciding on the helper, I was told that an initial  payment of '5,000 must be processed.” Ms Singh agreed and on December 12, a person by the name Jile Singh came to the complainant house and collected the said amount. He in return also given her the receipt and ensured that the helper will come home on December 13. But, to her disappointment, the helper never turned up.

Ms Singh realised about the cheat when her repeated calls to the number didn’t yield any result. Following a wait of over two months, she lodged an FIR of fraud and cheating against the owner of Suman Housemaid Services on February 13.

The Saket police has taken up the case under section 420 of the IPC and have initiated the probe into the same.
