Kabaddi player raped by man posing as a stadium official
Police is yet to make any arrest Medical test confirms rape.
New Delhi: A 16-year-old national-level Kabaddi player was allegedly raped by a man in his thirties who identified himself as a Chhatrasal Stadium official. The minor filed a complaint with the Model Town police station on Monday.
The police is yet to identify the accused and is scanning the CCTV footage from the nearby vicinity where the crime reportedly took place.
“We are going through attendance records of all employees of the stadium who were on duty on the day of incident. We have got some leads in the case,” said a senior police official.
The teenager told the police in her statement that on July 9 when she was outside the stadium premises, a man approached her introducing himself as a stadium official. He later asked her to sit in his car under the pretext of showing around the complex and served her drinks laced with sedatives.
The victim, however, could not recollect the events after that and has not been able to identify the accused. “The man later took her to a flat where, the minor girl alleged, she was raped by the unidentified man repeatedly. We are trying to establish the exact sequence of events,” said a senior police official.
Since the girl has claimed that she was unconscious and was unable to give more details about the accused who is said to be in his 30’s. The police took the girl to a hospital for medical examination, which confirmed rape. The police is yet to make any arrests.
The woman approached police on Monday morning and said that she was in trauma because of which she could not approach police before. She alleged the man dropped her at a road outside the stadium and threatened to kill her if she reported the matter.
Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said that a case of rape, along with several Sections of the POCSO Act, has been registered at Model Town police station after receiving the complaint.
