A human chain to protest fuel hike: DPCC
A highly-placed party source said the decision to form a human chain as a mark of protest was taken by DPCC president Ajay Maken.
New Delhi: The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) will form a “massive human chain” in the capital as a mark of protest against hike in fuel by the central and state governments.
A highly-placed party source said the decision to form a human chain as a mark of protest was taken by DPCC president Ajay Maken. The source said that as many as 25,000 Congress workers and volunteers will participate in forming the human chain.
This human chain will be formed at New Delhi district and in Lutyens zone area. If sources are to be believed the chain will start from Mandi House and will go up to Jantar Mantar. The party has planned to form the human chain between 5 pm and 6 pm, when most people and government employees will be heading back to their homes after work.
When asked whether the party wants to disturb the traffic situation in New Delhi, the Congress sources said that they would not interrupt the traffic in the city.
“We will keep in mind that traffic does not come to a standstill due to our protest. We will also help in running the traffic smoothly. We will stand on the roadsides holding hands of our workers and letting the people know that about the wrong doings of the central and the state governments, especially with regard to fuel hike,” the source, who did not wish to be named, said.
