New Delhi: A 42-year-old head constable attached to Central police district allegedly sedated and later raped a 17-year-old B.Com first year student in East Delhi’s Vinod Nagar in Kalyanpuri police station limits.
The accused, identified as Rajeev Chauhan, who works in communication department, has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC and Section 6 of Pocso Act 2012.

In her statement to the police, the survivor stated that the rape took place on January 6 when Sanjeev had allegedly told the girl that he has made English notes and asked her to collect it from him. When she met Sanjeev, he asked her to sit on his bike and took her to his home in Shakarpur. The constable offered her coffee which was sedated. When the girl drank the coffee, she fell unconscious following which the head constable raped her.
When she woke up without clothes, she asked Sanjeev to let her leave and that she will inform her parents about the same. However, Sanjeev reportedly threatened her of dire consequences and the girl kept quiet about the incident. On January 17, when the accused again came to the girl’s house and allegedly misbehaved with her, the survivor exposed Sanjeev’s deed and narrated the horror to her parents following which the parents approached the police and lodged a case against the head constable.
The girl was sent for a medical examination which confirmed the assault.
