SDMC proposes property tax sops for martyrs' kin
Gupta, however, proposed hike in mutation fee from Rs 150 to Rs 1,500 and one per cent education cess as proposed by the commissioner.
New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Friday proposed remission of full property tax in respect of one property of the martyrs of armed and para military forces and regular sanitation workers. Remission of full property tax was proposed by the standing committee chairman, Bhupender Gupta, while presenting the budget in the SDMC house.
In his budget speech, Mr Gupta said that he proposed remission of full property tax in respect of one property of the martyrs of armed and para military forces.
“Remission of full property tax in respect of one property of regular safai karamchari (sanitation workers) may be allowed,” he said.
Mr Gupta also proposed extension of property tax amnesty scheme in unauthorised colonies, villages, and urbanised villages for waiver of 100 per cent interest and 100 per cent penalty upto March 31. “Unauthorised regularised colonies may also be included in the ambit of amnesty scheme,” he added.
He also proposed withdrawal of hike in property tax rates on residential properties, which was proposed by the SDMC commissioner in his budget speech last month.
“Property tax on non-residential properties may be levied on the basis of category of colonies instead of group of buildings at the rate of 20 per cent on annual value in A to F categories and 15 per cent in G to H categories,” said Mr Gupta.
Mr Gupta, however, proposed hike in mutation fee from Rs 150 to Rs 1,500 and one per cent education cess as proposed by the commissioner. All rebates and concessions allowed in last year may continue, he said.
In a major relief to property owners, Mr Gupta proposed that assessment of property may be done on the basis of declaration made by the owner in respect of the year of purchase of the property. Presently, the claim is being sent in respect to such properties since 2004.
Among other sops, he proposed free booking of AC and non-AC community centres for the marriages of the daughters of martyrs of the armed and paramilitary forces; cashless medical care for all regular employees of the SDMC; installation of open gyms in parks to be continued out of discretionary fund of the mayor and standing committee chairman.
