NEW DELHI: Three illegal arms suppliers of an inter-state gang were arrested on Saturday and 21 sophisticated pistols and four live bullets were recovered from them, said Delhi police on Monday.

Kamlesh alias Kamal (36) of Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh, Alok Jaiswal (36) of Gonda district in UP and Rakesh Rathore (37) of Jhalawara in Rajasthan were arrested near the Commonwealth Games village, while they were travelling in car with illegal arms. They were on their way to supply the consignment to an arms dealer in the city.

“We received a tip off regarding movement of illegal arms suppliers in the city. A trap was laid near Sarai Kale Khan Bus Stand. At 2.45pm, a car coming from NH-24 towards Barapulla was signalled to stop. The driver stopped the car, but a passenger with black coloured bag jumped out and tried to run away. We chased him and caught him,” said a police officer.

“A total of 21 high-quality pistols along with eight live cartridges of .32 bore were recovered. They got the consignment from Badvani district of Madhya Pradesh. Rakesh is the gang leader and there were several cases of arms act against him” said P.S. Kushwah, DCP (Special Cell).

“During interrogation, they revealed that they have been supplying illegal arms since the last five years,” he added.
