Speeding trucks kill 3 people in 2 separate mishaps

A case of dangerous driving and causing death due to negligence has been registered against the errant driver.

New Delhi: A 22-year-old woman and her 44-year-old uncle were mowed down by a speeding container truck in Southeast Delhi’s Pul Prahladpur on Sunday evening. The errant driver fled from the scene after the accident. In a separate incident, a 4-year-old girl was mowed down by a truck in Narela on Monday morning.

Sources said the first incident took place near the railway underbridge on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road. The deceased were identified as Suman Tiwari and Barrister Tiwari.

According to police, initial probe revealed that Suman was travelling with her brother and uncle. Her brother, Amit, who was unharmed in the accident, told cops that they were crossing the road when a speeding truck tried to overtake another vehicle and in the process, hit his uncle and sister. The duo came under the front wheels of the truck and suffered critical injuries to their head. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared brought dead. A case of dangerous driving and causing death due to negligence has been registered against the errant driver.

While in another incident, a 4-year-old girl was mowed down, on Monday morning, by a speeding truck near a construction site in Rohini’s Narela area.

The police said that it has apprehended the truck driver and impounded the vehicle.

According to police, the incident took place at about 8.30 am when the girl, identified as Durga, was on her way to attend nature’s call.
