New Delhi: A 75-year-old widow has requested the Delhi police to help her get back her house from her son and daughter-in-law who allegedly threw her out after thrashing her.

The victim has also requested the police to get her admitted at a hospital for the treatment of the injuries that she suffered after being beaten by her son. The incident was  reported from South Delhi’s Vasant Knuj. A senior police official said that it has lodged a case under Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizen Act.

“The victim told us that after the death of her husband, her son Babu Ram and his wife Sudesh Devi started misbehaving with her and forced her to sign the property papers, which she refused. They then kept her in a room in Fatehpur Beri where she was forced to live in miserable conditions,” the police said. The victim said that her trauma did not end there for her son and daughter-in-law started threatening her of dire consequences. They used to allegedly lock the victim inside the bathroom for hours.

“At night they used to switch off all the lights to scare me. When they failed in their attempts, they took me to an isolated spot in a van and beat me. I suffered injuries in my hand,” the victim told the cops. After being victimised for several months, the widow finally decided to approach the cops and lodged a complaint with the police.

She told the cops that she did not have any money for her treatment. The police also said that it has also added Sections 365 (kidnapping), 342 (confining a person), and 323 (voluntary causing hurt) of IPC in the FIR. “We are helping the victim and probing the matter,” the police added.
