Delhi University will adopt 65-35 formula for courses
Continuous admission committee meetings are going on to decide the admission process in the varsity.
New Delhi: Delhi University is likely to adopt a 65-35 weightage formula of entrance and Class 12 marks respectively for admission to Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Administration (financial investment analysis) and BA (Hons) Business Economics (BE) from the coming academic session.
Moreover, this year the varsity is also planning to do away with the group discussion and interview process as part of admission to these professional courses.
BMS is already being run in six colleges but this time, the course will also be offered by Shahid Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women from the new academic session. While BE is offered in 10 colleges, BBA (FIA) is being run in one college.
So far, 50-50 weightage was given to the entrance tests and Class 12 marks each for admission to BE, whereas for BMS and BBA, 50 per cent weightage was given to entrance and 30 per cent to group discussions and 20 per cent to personal interview.
“DU does not want to have interviews and group discussions in these professional courses. Continuous admission committee meetings are going on to decide the admission process in the varsity. Recommendations are also being sought on ending the group discussion and interviews,” a varsity official said.
Every year, DU conducts a joint admission test for admission to these professional courses besides BTech, BA Humanities and Social Sciences, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor in Multimedia and Mass Communication, and Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.
