New Delhi: The police has arrested a 27-year-old man who had allegedly attempted to kill his former employer by slitting her neck with a knife, from a night shelter in Nizamuddin area.
Anil Panwar alias Kallu, who was working as a driver for fashion designer Kaveri Lal (27), had allegedly misbehaved with her boyfriend and was fired from his job in December last year. After getting fired, he had been demanding a month’s salary from her.
On May 14, Panwar called Lal out of her Malviya Nagar residence on the pretext of asking her to park her car properly, and demanded his dues. After she refused, he had attacked her with a knife.
Ms Lal had suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Max Hospital for treatment. The accused fled from the spot leaving the knife behind. A police team had conducted raids at all his probable hideouts in the NCR and Uttar Pradesh.
His relatives and friends were interrogated to get clues about his hideouts, and a close watch was kept on his bank and ATM transactions, said deputy commissioner of police (South) Ishwar Singh. On a tip-off, he was arrested from a night shelter at Nizamuddin on Friday. Panwar is a school dropout who is married and has two daughters.
