Attempt to kill senior citizen, her son

New Delhi: In a suspected case of personal animosity, a gang of unidentified assailants managed to sneak inside a house in Northwest Delhi’s Bhalswa Dairy and allegedly attempted to murder an elderly lady and her son. The assailants also sprayed chloroform on other family members.

The police said that the family of six members live in Jahangirpuri. The 75-year-old injured woman has been identified as Narayani Devi while her son Anup runs a transport business in Azadpur.

Probe revealed that the incident took place at around 5.30 am. The assailants easily managed to get inside the house as the doors were open. According to a police official, the incident came to light when a relative came to the house and found Narayani Devi and Anup lying in a pool of blood with injury marks on their neck. As he went ahead to check on others, another son of Narayani Devi, his wife and children were lying in an unconscious state.

He immediately raised an alarm following which neighbours rushed to the house and informed the police.
