New Delhi: While taking a dig on the Aam Aadmi Party government, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Sunday expressed utter shock on the absence of a minister of women, dalits, and rural community in the AAP Cabinet.

The AAP party had promised during the elections that they would give priority to women, dalits and people from rural areas. Mr Gupta, however, alleged that it has proven to be another one of the fictitious electoral claims made by CM Arvind Kejriwal and demanded proper representation of women, dalits and rural community from MLAs in the Delhi Cabinet.

“The Delhi government has many women MLAs, yet there is no place for women in their Cabinet. Among the plethora of promises made on women safety and welfare, they have not been able to fulfill even one.”

“They made a commitment to make foolproof arrangements to ensure security of working women from workplace to their homes and install CCTVs all over Delhi to curb crime against women. However, none of these promises have seen the light of day,” Mr Gupta said.

While pointing towards the removal of three previous ministers — Jitender Tomar, Asim Ahmed Khan, and Sandeep Kumar — from their ministerial berth due to various criminal indictments, the leader said, “Despite being the chief minister, Mr Kejriwal has not taken charge of any ministry. Even Manish Sisodia is handling responsibility of 12 different departments in addition to the duties of the deputy chief minister.”
