Heroin worth Rs 80 crore recovered from 6 criminals

During search, 1.5 kg heroin was recovered from both Mausam Ali and Chhote Khan.

New Delhi: The Delhi police special cell has busted two alleged drug cartels and arrested six persons in two separate incidents and recovered 20 kg heroin worth Rs 80 crore, the police said on Monday.

The accused were identified as Mausam Ali (30), Chhote Khan (55), Sajid Ali (32), Shakir (27), Sanjay (36), and Jalil Khan (50). While the former four are residents of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, the other two are residents of Budaun district in Uttar Pradesh.

The Special Cell received information that two different interstate narcotic cartels are active in the states of West Bengal, UP, Punjab, Delhi, MP, etc.

On Friday, at around 1.05 pm, three drug suppliers — Mausam Ali, Chhote Khan, and Sanjay — were apprehended near Nirankari Sarovar in Delhi when they went there in a car to deliver heroin to one of their Delhi based contacts, DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said.

During search, 1.5 kg heroin was recovered from both Mausam Ali and Chhote Khan while 2 kg heroin was recovered from a secret cavity made around the speedometer and inside the hand-rest on the rear seat of the car, Mr Yadav said.

On their instance, Jalil Khan, the main supplier, was arrested from Bareilly, he said. On Sunday, Sajid Ali and Shakir, two drug suppliers from another cartel, were apprehended from Rithala at around 7.10 pm when they came there in a truck. 15 kg heroin was recovered from their possession, Mr Yadav added.
