New Delhi: Unhappy with the state of affairs in the party, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari has pulled up the outfit’s general secretaries. Sources told this newspaper that after returning from the Assembly election campaign Monday night, Mr Tiwari called three general secretaries and questioned them for their inability to manage the party’s affairs properly in his absence.

Party leaders said that the meeting which started late on Monday evening went past midnight. “Mr Tiwari called three general secretaries and asked them what was going on in the party. He pointed few developments, which took place last week, and asked them to explain the reason behind this to him. The general secretaries failed to satisfy Mr Tiwari with their replies,” said an office bearer.

The Delhi BJP president is also unhappy about the working style of few of the key functionaries of the party, which is sending a wrong signal among the cadre. Mr Tiwari asked them to correct the working style as it is not in the interest of the party ahead of the crucial civic polls. In strong words he said that such things would not be tolerated.

Ravinder Gupta, one of the general secretaries who were present in Monday night’s meeting, told this newspaper that they were called by Mr Tiwari to discuss party activities. “Last night, Mr Tiwari had met with us at his residence after returning from the election campaign. He discussed about the party’s functioning. A few things with regard to the preparations of the municipal elections were to be discussed. Hence we met him and held deliberations over municipal polls’ preparations,” added Mr Gupta.

Another general secretary, Rajesh Bhatia, said that the state’s president had called the general secretaries to review party activities and discuss future plans.

Mr Tiwari, meanwhile, called the party’s core committee meeting on Wednesday and is likely to issue further directions to all key leaders of the party who are members of the committee to work ‘together’ to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming municipal elections in the city.
