15,000 RSS volunteers to drum up support for BJP in polls
Sources said that for next two days, the RSS volunteers would take micro management of elections till the end of voting hours.
New Delhi: Unhappy with the BJP local units’ poll management , the RSS has taken over the responsibility of booth management for Sunday’s civic elections in the national capital. About 15,000 RSS volunteers has been roped in for the purpose.
A senior Delhi BJP leader told this newspaper that there are ground reports that existing booth level workers are not delivering what was expected from them. “During its own assessment, the RSS found complete lack of coordination on ground. It came to the notice of the RSS that booth level workers are not doing the work they are assigned for. These booth level workers failed to reach out each and every household of 272 wards,” he added.
Sources said that for next two days, the RSS volunteers would take micro management of elections till the end of voting hours. Now, the RSS volunteers will reach out to the maximum number of voters across the city. Sharing the details of voter outreach by the RSS volunteers, a party functionary said that in a group of two or three persons, these voters will try to reach out to maximum number of voters till late before the start of polling on Sunday morning. “They will hand over voting slip to the voters. They explain the good works of the civic bodies and convince them to vote for the BJP,” he added.
Sources claimed that RSS assessment and feedback from the workers came from Uttar Pradesh and a senior functionary from Madhya Pradesh. It gave poor rating to the state leadership and workers for election management.
“It is one of the most inexperienced state team in terms of managing elections, which is clearly visible in their key decision making. Every now and then, several goof ups are seen, so it has been decided that RSS volunteers will now take over the micro management to ensure BJP’s victory in the civic polls,” he said.
