6 candidates of AAP to file papers today
Rai also announced the names of the three candidates who will be contesting from Haryana.
New Delhi: The six remaining candidates of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will file their nominations on Monday, said senior party leader Gopal Rai, accusing Congress of “wasting” its time over an alliance in Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Mr Rai also announced the names of the three candidates who will be contesting from Haryana.
AAP has formed an alliance with the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) in Haryana on a 7:3 seat sharing formula with seven seats for JJP and three for AAP. Mr Rai accused Congress of “wasting” AAP’s time over tieup in Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
“We even postponed the filing of nominations of AAP candidates, but now all our six candidates in Delhi will file their nominations on Monday and we will also launch a ‘pol-khol abhiyan’ against Congress,” he said.
AAP has seven candidates in the national capital. The party’s West Delhi candidate, Balbir Singh Jakhar, filed his nomination papers on Thursday. The other six candidates, who will file their nominations on Monday, are Chandni Chowk candidate Pankaj Gupta, East Delhi candidate Atishi, Northwest Delhi candidate Gugan Singh, South Delhi candidate Raghav Chadha, Northeast candidate Dilip Pandey, and New Delhi candidate Brajesh Goel.
Mr Rai said Congress was giving an impression that AAP refused to form an alliance. “The fact is, whichever seat sharing formula Congress proposed we agreed to it in Haryana, Delhi, and Chandigarh. Even then they backtracked,” he said. On Saturday, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said that Congress has zero presence in Delhi but they want nearly half of the seats.
