Gurgaon: A day after his joining as Gurgaon police commissioner, 1996-batch senior IPS officer K.K. Rao said that the police will reduce response time and promised to make the force more accessible.

The department is working towards Dial 100 and more lines will reach the control room so as to reach the victim at the earliest.

Mr Rao said his priority would be to ensure grievance redressal in a “speedy, professional and transparent manner”. The department will develop better coordination among adjoining states and districts in a bid to reduce crime.

“We will make Gurgaon a safer place to live in,” he said. Mr Rao stated this while speaking to the media on Thursday

Taking a serious note of excess duty hours and work pressure on the police personnel, he said, “To reduce work pressure the work will be divided equally to the cops so that we could serve a better result towards redressal of complaints. This way, I am sure work pressure will be reduced in 15 to 20 days,” he added.

"Some people think Gurgaon police works under pressure. It is a misunderstanding. The department should work without any pressure. Our top propriety to maintain law and order in the district," he said.

Going by his address to them, there is unlikely to be a drastic change in the police's approach towards the criminals, sources who attended the meeting said.

"We have got 1,000 new personnel in our department. The police presence on the city roads will help to deterrent criminals and ensure the security of women and senior citizens in the city," Rao, said.

Taking a serious note on the traffic management system in the city he said, "The department will take strict actions against the traffic violators. We can frequently see that the offenders used to park their vehicles illegal on service lanes which cause a jam problem across the city. Will give only two times warning to these offenders and after this vehicles will be impounded, the police chief, said.

"He further said that, "We look forward to following an Open Door Policy. He also promised "an easy access to me and my team at the police headquarters without any hassles".

Thereafter he said, "We have issued a strict warning to the pub, bar and restaurant owners not to open their establishments beyond the prescribed time period. The police team on time to time will conduct search operations to prevent illegal activities on the busy MG Road and Golf course roads".

"To prevent crime against women and minors is one of our top propriety. We will increase night patrolling the concern Deputy Commissioner of police (DCPs) will keep an eye on their respective areas," he added.

Meanwhile, he also urges to the residents of Gurugram that they should complete police verifications process of their domestic help and tenants. "It will also help the police to reduce petty crimes".

In the meantime, necessary changes were made to the nameplate outside the CP's office. On Thursday police personnel had been deployed entry and exit points of the commissioner's office. The cops on duty collecting information about the visitors and were giving visitors cards.
