Come clean on validity of spiked notes: BJP to DTC
There is allegation that AAP electoral funds are being exchanged through DTC revenue.
New Delhi: Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay has requested lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung to ask the DTC management to clarify its position on depositing old high-value notes in the banks so that the image of the government undertaking may not be maligned.
Delhi BJP claimed that in the political circles and social media, people are talking about a report that the DTC is depositing a large part of its daily revenue of about Rs 3 crore in the banks in the form of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes and there is allegation that AAP electoral funds are being exchanged through DTC revenue.
In a letter written to Mr Jung, he has drawn his attention towards the reports and social media about depositing old notes by the DTC. “It has been stated in the letter that generally the DTC fare ranges from Rs 5 to Rs 25 and the conductor does not possess so much change that he can take a Rs 500-note and return the change to the passenger. The people travelling in DTC buses generally belong to lower middle class and they offer exact change to the bus conductor,” said the letter.
