New Delhi: The 25-year-old American woman, who was allegedly drugged and gangraped by five men at a five-star hotel near Connaught Place in April, recorded her statement before the magistrate on Wednesday under Section 164 CrPC. The police might move in to arrest the accused men after it.

According to sources, the woman stuck to her complaint she had registered through email she had sent to the Delhi police in October this year. She agreed to undergo a medical examination at a government hospital and was counselled by a professional counsellor as per her convenience.

The police would now approach the suspects to join the probe. Sources said that the woman was definite and was coherent while recording her statement and even mentioned the description of the accused.

The police official probing the case say that recording her statement was essential in the case as the five suspects, during their questioning, had pleaded innocence and claimed that no such crime was committed by them. Moreover, there were no biological evidences to prove the crime. The five men also produced their photographs with the woman and feedback form, filled by her before leaving India, to prove that they were innocent.

The woman had alleged that she was threatened with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anybody. She had also stated that the accused had made a video of the act and had threatened to make it public if she reported the matter to anyone. Earlier, she had asked the cops to ensure that accused did not delete the evidences from their mobile phones as they had clicked her videos while brutalising her.
