New Delhi: A day after the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) House meeting witnessed ruckus, an AAP councillor accused a BJP member of allegedly assaulting her during the commotion.

Councillors of the AAP and the BJP have filed police complaints against each other for allegedly disrupting the House proceedings and creating a ruckus during the SDMC meeting.

AAP lady councillor from Lado, Sarai Kishanwati said that she was physically assaulted inside the House when she was opposing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) arbitrary attitude and negligence towards corruption in the SDMC.

She also alleged that the SDMC mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat on Wednesday called AAP councillor Ramesh Matiala and asked him not to raise the issue (disruption) in the House and when he refused, she threatened to debar them from the House which they ultimately did.

Ms Kishanwati accused Maya Singh, Kiran Chopra and other BJP councillors, including some male councillors, of for physically assaulting her which led to her hand being fractured. She said that they repeatedly used  castiest remarks against her as she belong to particular community.

Following the ruckus yesterday, Ms Sehrawat suspended 11 AAP councillors. An infuriated Ms Kishanwati filed a complaint at Kamla market police station, while the BJP councillors filed two complaints with DCP, Central Delhi.

The police has submitted Ms Kishanwati’s complaint to Ms Sehrawat for her consideration, along with her medico-legal case (MLC) report. “The X-ray report didn’t cite any fracture in her hand,” a police source said.

The CCTV camera footage of the incident, when councillors from both sides allegedly pushed and shoved each other, will also be scanned by the police.
