New Delhi: A Food Safety Department team on Wednesday collected food samples from the city's popular 'Kake Da Hotel' after a video purportedly showing a person kneading dough with his feet emerged on social media.

However, the 86-year-old eatery, located on the Outer Circle of Connaught Place, refuted the charge and termed it as a "conspiracy".

"A team headed by Deputy Commissioner of Food Safety Department visited Kake Da Hotel and picked up food samples from there after a video emerged showing a man kneading dough with his feet," a senior Delhi government official said.

The official also said food samples have been sent to a laboratory for examination and results will come in the next one or two days.

Kake Da Hotel, one of the most famous restaurants, was set up in 1930s.

The veracity of the video could not be verified. Shambu Singh Rawat aka Shiv Singh, who is a cashier at Kake Da Hotel, said, "A team of Food Safety Department visited the restaurant at 12.30 pm today and took samples of food items."

"We have got to know about this video. This is a conspiracy to defame the restaurant. The man seen in video was washing clothes and not kneading dough”, he said.
