Nigeria national, 2 Afghans held with Rs 25crore drugs

New Delhi :An international drug cartel was busted by the special cell of the Delhi police with the arrest of two Afghan and one Nigerian national. The accused used to bring consignments sometimes in their stomach by swallowing heroin-filled capsules.

The team of special cell (Southern Range) led by inspector Ishwar Singh under the supervision of ACP (special cell) Attar Singh, arrested the accused.

The accused were identified as Esmatullah (40) and Khalilullah (22), both Afghan nationals and presently residing at Hauz Rani in Delhi. The third accused, Victor Osondu (37), is a Nigerian national who was residing in Vikas Puri in Delhi.

DCP (special cell) PS Kushwah said the trio was arrested on Tuesday at about 1.15 am from the exit gate of Max Hospital in Saket. Heroin worth Rs 25 crore has been recovered from them.

The special cell, in its tirade against drugs, has busted several narcotic drug cartels in the past by arresting various members of these cartels and by recovering huge consignments of drugs, including heroin, opium, and others.

It came to light that heroin is being smuggled in India from Afghanistan by various members of the syndicate. It was also revealed that Afghan nationals used to bring heroin from Afghanistan and they used to handover the consignments to said Nigerian national on a regular basis.

They further disclosed that they bring consignments sometimes in their stomach by swallowing heroin-filled capsules and sometimes in secret cavities of their bags.

Both the arrested Afghan nationals have revealed that many other Afghan nationals are also indulging in this trade. They have already supplied more than 100 kg heroin in Delhi during the last two years.

Accused Victor also disclosed that he used to receive heroin supply from the duo and further supplied it to other countries including Canada, England, France, South Africa, etc. through courier companies.
