DIAL conducts signage exercise for passengers
For passengers inadvertently reaching the wrong terminals, free shuttles with specially trained drivers have been introduced to & fro from T1 and T2.
New Delhi: Delhi airport operator, DIAL, on Friday announced that it has made robust arrangements for a smooth transition of partial operations of IndiGo and SpiceJet from Terminal1 to T2.
An extensive signage exercise has been conducted at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport to help passengers by showing them directions and locations to their respective terminals.
For passengers inadvertently reaching the wrong terminals, free shuttles with specially trained drivers have been introduced to and fro from T1 and T2.
Extra manpower has also been deployed for guiding the passengers. The Delhi airport is actively disseminating information on Twitter using #Shifting to T2.
Further, additional tabs on frequently asked questions (FAQs) and directional maps have been incorporated in the Delhi airport’s website (www.newdelhiairport.in) to help the passengers reach the right terminal.
Commenting on the development, DIAL chief executive officer I. Prabhakara Rao, said, “In view of the robust passenger growth and upcoming airport expansion work, IndiGo and SpiceJet are moving partly to T2 and we welcome both the airlines.”
He added, “This will also enable us to start the expansion works at T1 that will be carried out over the next three to four years. We strive to achieve passenger convenience and delight. We are confident that our detailed preparations will help the passengers as well as the entire IGI airport community,” he added.
IndiGo and SpiceJet are moving partially from T1 to the newly revamped T2 of the Delhi airport with effect from 12.01 am on Sunday.
These include flights to 10 sectors of IndiGo i.e. Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Raipur, Srinagar, Udaipur, Vadodara and Vishakhapatnam.
Similarly, the SpiceJet flights moving to T2 are flights leaving for Ahmedabad, Cochin, Goa, Gorakhpur, Patna, Pune and Surat.
