New Delhi: After a man was allegedly robbed and later thrown out of a running auto-rickshaw by a gang on Akshardham flyover on Thursday, the same gang struck again and targeted an artiste, who claims to come from film industry.
On Friday morning, Javed, an artiste belonging to film industry and a resident of Tughlaq Road extension, was allegedly robbed at knife point and later thrown-off from a moving auto-rickshaw by gang of auto-rickshaw thieves.
According to the police, in Mr Javed’s complaint , he stated that he was returning home on Friday morning around 5 am when the incident took place near Geeta Colony flyover. The incident took place near the same place where a German national was robbed, stabbed in the stomach by the miscreants a few weeks back.
The complainant alleged that he had alighted at Kashmiri Gate and was looking for an autorickshaw to take him to Tughlaq Road Extension. A sharing auto-rickshaw driver agreed to go. Mr Javed boarded the auto and saw a passenger already sitting. As the auto-rickshaw reached Rajghat Depot and moved towards a steep turn, two men came and sat inside the auto-rickshaw. After reaching an isolated spot, the gang members pulled out a knife and asked Mr Javed to part with his valuables.
When the victim tried to resist, they allegedly threatened to kill him, following which they robbed him of his valuables, three mobile phones, cash, credit and debit cards, and his bag. The gang members after robbing him allegedly threw him out of the moving auto-rickshaw and fled the spot.
The incident came to light when Mr Javed approached the jurisdictional police and lodged a plaint. Mr Javed had noted down the registration of the auto-rickshaw and provided the same to the police. A case has been registered and police is on the look out of the fleeing gang members.
