Delhi Court charges Somnath Bharti with domestic violence

In the domestic violence case filed by his estranged wife Lipika Mitra, Mr Bharti is an accused along with Kapil Vajpayee, Baney Singh, and Natish.

New Delhi: On Tuesday, a Delhi court charged AAP MLA Somnath Bharti of harassment, cheating, and criminal intimidation in connection with the domestic violence case filed by his wife.

The court also charged him with the offence causing miscarriage without the woman’s consent, causing hurt by dangerous weapons, and criminal breach of trust under the IPC. The court, however, discharged Mr Bharti of the offences of Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 315 (act done with intent to prevent child being born alive or to cause it to die after birth), and 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of the IPC.

In the domestic violence case filed by his estranged wife Lipika Mitra, Mr Bharti is an accused along with Kapil Vajpayee, Baney Singh, and Natish. Mr Bharti  who was granted bail in October 2015 after being in jail for eight days, had denied the allegations.
