New Delhi: The national capital is all set to witness a triangular fight involving Congress, BJP, and AAP in the Lok Sabha election on May 12.

The contest would likely be more interesting in the East Delhi seat where former cricketer Gautam Gambir is contesting for BJP, former city minister Arvinder Singh Lovely for Congress, and Atishi for AAP.

The voters in the area have made up their minds to cast their votes based primarily on the issues of communal harmony, development, and nationalism. Further, the voters said that they are well aware of the reason why the particular candidates have been fielded from this seat.

“Congress candidate Arvinder Singh Lovely will woo minority votes while Atishi will encash her experience as educationalist. The master stroke has been played by BJP by fielding cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who is quite aggressive on his nationalist stand and has a huge fan following among the youths, especially the first time voters,” said Harish Joshi, a private teacher in Khichripur Resettlement Colony.

East Delhi is dominated by immigrants, who struggle with basic amenities like the absence of schools, hospitals, or water supply. After the 2013 Assembly election, traditional Congress supporters, who had supported AAP in the 2013 election, now seem to support and vote for others.
