Gurgaon: A 37-year-old Gurgaon-based property dealer was gunned down by two bike-borne assailants.
The police said the victim, Narendra Kataria, who was also a local badminton player, had gone for practice at a badminton court in Sector-9 area, was returning to his residence when the incident took place late on Thursday night.
“When Kataria was going towards his SUV, both the accused persons stopped him and they started verbal argument with him. In the meantime, they gunned him down by firing seven to eight bullets,” said Ranbir Singh, ACP-crime, Gurgaon. After hearing gunshots, locals ran to help Kataria but the accused managed to escape from the spot, ACP Singh said.
Kataria was later admitted to a city-based private hospital where later he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, the official added.
Before dying, Kataria disclosed his attackers’ names as Lajpat Kaushik and Vijay Kaushik to locals on the way to hospital. They had attacked him on account of a property dispute. “Kataria had a successful deal of one acre plot based in Bawal industrial area in Rewari district. It proved to be a very profitable deal that made the Kaushiks unhappy,” the officer said. A case has been registered in Sector-9 police station and a manhunt is on to nab both Kaushiks, he added.
In another incident, two motorcycle-borne men allegedly shot at a security guard of a cash van and decamped with Rs 12 lakh in Northwest Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy on Friday. The cash van was parked near a State Bank of India ATM in the area and there were four occupants in the van, the police said. The men were waiting for an opportunity to strike and as soon as the guard deboarded, they shot at him and threatened the others at gunpoint and decamped with the bag containing cash, they added.
