Cops raid casino' in South Delhi, 30 held
The Delhi police raided the casino and nabbed 30 people, including 14 players and five women casino-cum-bar attendants, they said.
New Delhi: An illegal casino-cum-bar, being run in a 13-acre farmhouse in South Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri that was also used for shooting TV soaps, has been busted and 30 people have been arrested on Tuesday night.
The Delhi police raided the casino and nabbed 30 people, including 14 players and five women casino-cum-bar attendants, they said. The owner of the property was also arrested. The police have also seized 13 luxury vehicles from the spot.
Thee Vigilance Branch of South district received secret information that a high-profile casino racket was being run from a farmhouse at Dera Mandi Road, Fatehpur Beri, here, the police said.
A team was formed under the supervision of Ram Singh, assistant commissioner of police (South) district. Around 11 pm, a trap was laid at the farmhouse. Many people were seen inside carrying playing cards in their hands and were gambling on four big tables, the police said.
The men on each table were being helped by the organisers and attendants. The police team recovered gambling chips worth crores of rupees from the spot, said deputy commissioner of police (South) Ishwar Singh. During inquiry, it was found that the property belongs to one Suresh Yadav, who was also arrested.
The police has also seized gambling coins worth over a crore from the spot and 56 liquor bottles along with 45 packets of playing cards and 468 playing cards, said the DCP. The police said that the casino was being run for the last two months from the farmhouse that was also rented out for shooting of various TV serials and films.
