New Delhi: The Delhi police has revealed that not even a single police personnel of the department was found guilty for not performing their duties when chief minister Arvind Kerjriwal’s security was breached on five occasions in the national capital. However, the Delhi police faced severe criticism by the ruling AAP for these security breaches. The AAP even locked horn with the Central government and the lieutenant-governor of Delhi for better security arrangements for Arvind Kejriwal.

According to the information provided by the Delhi police security unit, a total of five security breach incidents related to CM Kejriwal were reported during the period from February 14, 2015, till July end this year during his second tenure as the Delhi CM.

Between February 14 and December 31, 2016, only one incident of breach of security was reported. In 2018, two incidents of security breach incidents were reported. Till July 31 this year, two incidents of security breach were reported.

When asked how many police personnel, who were deployed at Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s security were found guilty for not performing their duty and what action had been taken against them, the Delhi police security unit replied, “As per record available with us, no police personnel deployed in the security of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was found guilty for not performing their duties.”

Earlier, AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj called the Delhi police a “biased force,” which was protecting “lunatics and anti-social elements,” making the CM and his ministers vulnerable.

Other leaders, including Dilip Pandey, Atishi, and Rituraj, also slammed the BJP and the Delhi police over the attacks.

The AAP earlier alleged that the Delhi police did not act to protect the CM despite express concerns conveyed by the CM’s office and the chief secretary’s office.

In a major and recent security breach, the CM was attacked during his roadshow for Lok Sabha elections on May 4. He was attacked with chilli powder inside the Delhi Secretariat on November 20 last year. AAP termed this attack as a dangerous one and pointed out the Delhi police’s serious lapses in the CM’s security.

In 2016, a man had thrown a shoe at the CM when he was giving details of the phase-2 of the odd-even scheme. Around the same time, a woman had also thrown ink on him at a “thanksgiving” gathering at the Chhatrasal Stadium.
