BJP Swachchhta Abhiyan' on Vajpayee birthday
Programme will kick start at 9 am and continue till 12 pm on December 25 where the workers will conduct sanitation drive at public places.
New Delhi: To mark former Prime Minister and BJP patriarch Atal Behari Vajpayee’s 92nd birthday, which falls on December 25, the city’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit will observe the day as Swachchhta Abhiyan Day.
Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, addressing the media on Friday, said that a series of events have been planned for the former Prime Minister’s birthday. “The party men have planned a series of events where over 25,000 party men will hit the streets and carry out the cleanliness drive besides hosting a cultural programme where a host of Bollywood personalities and party leaders will be participating. The party activists will also visit public places like government hospitals, railway stations, court premises, bus stands, parks, and major markets to educate citizens about good-governance,” he added.
Mr Tiwari further said that besides educating people about good-governance, the party men will also discuss the ongoing demonetisation issue with people and urge the resident welfare associations and market associations to come forward and participate in the programme which will be a gift for our former Prime Minister.
“Starting tomorrow and till December 30, I will take part in Shram Daan activities along with 25, 000 BJP workers including MPs, MLAs, councillors, and pradesh and district office bearers, in all over Delhi. We will initiate an awareness campaign on good governance and new economic policies,” he stated.
The programme will kick start at 9 am and continue till 12 pm on December 25 where the workers will conduct sanitation drive at public places; while Shram Daan will be held from 12 to 1 pm. Discussions will be held on mobile app banking and cashless economy. Thereafter, fruits and blankets will be distributed at several hospitals amongst the inward patients. Later in the evening, a cultural programme at Siri Fort will follow where acclaimed Bollywood singer Shankar Mahadevan will perform.
Starting from Saturday, the party will hold workers’ convention in all 14 organisational districts. Through these workers’ convention, the party will educate the workers to apprise people of the transparency and examples of good governance set by former PM Shri Vajpayee’s government, which is now being followed by PM Modi.
Mr Tiwari said, “Delhi BJP president Shri Manoj Tiwari will join all the 14 workers’ conventions and will concentrate on group interactions with around 20,000 active workers. The party has planned direct contact of booth management workers with the pradesh president.”
When questioned about the recent resignation of lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung and his sudden exit, Mr Tiwari said, “The news of his resignation came as a shock to all of us. But, as it’s his personal decision, the party respects this decision.”
