Delhi turns into fortress ahead of Republic Day
According to the Delhi police, there are three control rooms that have been set up especially for the Republic Day purpose.
New Delhi: The national capital has been turned into fortress ahead of Republic Day, more so, because of the with VIP movement with top leaders of 10 Asean nations are the chief guests.
According to the police, more than 1,000 cameras have been installed in and around Lutyens’ Delhi. Several paramilitary and Army companies have also been deployed to provide security. An elaborate arrangement has been made.
According to the Delhi police, there are three control rooms that have been set up especially for the Republic Day purpose. Through these control rooms the surveillance is being done.
Apart from having a technical surveillance, the security agencies are also working on the local inputs and intelligence inputs.
Delhi police officials also said that the rooftops in central Delhi, along the route of Republic Day parade, have been sanitised. Every rooftop will have a commando deployed.
Meanwhile, Gurugram witnessed incidents of violence where a school bus carrying students was attacked by protesters. In Delhi also, there were reports of violent incidents in Rohini. According to the DCP Rohini district, Rajneesh Gupta, “About 100 people were planning to march towards a multiplex in Prashant Vihar, when some of them were detained a few metres away from the multiplex. They said they are verifying whether the men detained are members of Karni Sena.”
A video went viral on Wednesday where a group of Karni Sena supporters halted traffic and shattered the windows of some vehicles. The police, however, denied any such incidents took place.
