Mewat gang member arrested for firing at cops

New Delhi: A team of special cell has arrested an active member of notorious Mewat-based gang who used to smuggle cattle. The accused along with five others had come to Delhi in April last year and fired on a PCR van.

Javed, the accused was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000.

He along with his accomplices namely Umar, Sahid, Sakir, Buddhan, Ibrahim, Subba and Azzi had come to Delhi to commit crime. On the fateful night, the members of this gang were on their way to Mewat from Delhi with five smuggled cows when they were challenged by the PCR van in Paschim Vihar.

They broke the police barricade and hit the van with their vehicle. They also  fired at the van. Despite stiff resistance, the PCR van kept chasing for more than 5-6 km and finally two members of the gang, Sahid and Umar, were arrested.
