Scribe robbed at gunpoint near Akshardham

New Delhi: An electronic media journalist was robbed at gunpoint at Akshardham flyover while she was returning from the Delhi Police Headquarters to her office in Noida on Thursday. 

The motorcycle-borne robbers intercepted the autorickshaw in which the victim was travelling robbed her at gunpoint.

However, as the assailants tried to snatch her bag, the journalist resisted and held on to the bag tightly. In the process, she was hurt as her fingers got stuck between the strap of the bag and the autorickshaw’s iron grills.

“When they were unable to snatch the bag, they took out a pistol and pointed it towards me. I was holding my bag tightly, but my phone too was in my hand. Unable to get the bag, they snatched my phone,” said Preeti Pandey.

A complaint has been registered at the Mandawali police station.

In another case, three men on a two-wheeler snatched the mobile phone of a man in North Delhi’s Maurice Nagar, raising questions about safety of pedestrians in the North Campus area yet again. 

The suspects have not been identified so far.   The victim, Aditya Malik, is an LLB student and the incident happened on August 19. 

According to the complainant, the suspects struck when he reached Maurice Nagar chowk bus stand to catch a ride back home. 

All of a sudden, the bike-borne men snatched his mobile phone and drove away. As the suspects were speeding away, he could note down the registration number of the vehicle. 

Mr Malik could not report the matter the same day. 

However, the next day he visited the police station and submitted a complaint based on which an FIR under relevant sections of the IPC was registered at the Maurice Nagar police station.

A senior police officer said that a case has been registered and probe is on. A police team later visited the spot and inspected the crime scene. Police are also trying to gather CCTV footage.
