Manish Sisodia remark a veiled threat: Manoj Tiwari
Mr Gupta demanded that Delhi government should immediately regularise 60,000 contract employees as promised.
New Delhi: The Delhi BJP on Saturday strongly condemned the reported statement of deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia that the guest teachers’ contracts will be renewed annually. Delhi BJP president, Manoj Tiwari has said that Mr Sisodia’s statement is a veiled threat to the guest teachers after their agitation outside Chhatrasal Stadium on December 22, where chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tried to “befool” them with hollow promises. Mr Tiwari claimed that the Kejriwal government has been in power for almost two years now, but he has not made an iota of effort for the regularisation of the contractual employees. “In fact, the Kejriwal government, which is beset with an authoritarian Tughlaqi approach, has repeatedly threatened any kind of staff raising their bona fide demand. From Danics officers to guest teachers, all have been threatened by the Kejriwal government time and again,” said Mr Tiwari.
Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, said that if any guest teacher teaching in government schools is sacked in the name of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), he, along with the guest teachers, will take the fight from the streets to the Assembly and the Parliament against this revengeful action of the city government. Mr Gupta demanded that Delhi government should immediately regularise 60,000 contract employees as promised.
According to Mr Tiwari, in a circular issued earlier this year to the municipal corporations, the Kejriwal government had directed its commissioners to remove all contractual employees working with them.
