Subsequently, the police registered an FIR at the concerned police station and took up investigation into the matter, the official sources said.

New Delhi: The Delhi police’s lackadaisical attitude has once again come to light when the cops allegedly didn’t register a complaint regarding the kidnapping of a minor girl after she went missing for over 20 days.

The girl had gone missing on June 5. However, the police said it will treat the girl as an adult as the complainant failed to produce any specific document about her age.

Additional DCP (North) Harender Singh denied such allegations and said, “The matter was dealt with integrity. We registered a case on June 22 after the complainant approached us. Initially, it was a family matter. One person, namely Arjun, fell in love with the missing girl and fled with her.”

Further, it came to light that Arjun was about to get married to the victim’s elder sister, but he developed a liking for the younger one and eloped with her. He is suspected to be living in Hapur. It is also suspected that both of them got married.

According to information, the minor’s brother alleged that the police didn’t file the FIR for three weeks. The 16-year-old minor’s brother, Anil, is a resident of Sangam Vihar. He said her sister went missing on June 5.

Subsequently, after a nugatory manhunt, he finally reported the matter to the PCR and to the concerned beat officer on June 8 at around 11.30 am.

Finally, he received information from his relatives that Vikram and Sandeep, both residents of Kalyanpuri, allured and abducted her sister and were keeping her at some unknown place.

Vikram’s brother-in-law, Surender, and his son Arjun are also involved in this conspiracy.

When the complainant went to confront the accused person, they made him talk to her sister a couple of times. During the call, his agonised sister told him that the accused had taken her hostage and was keeping her at some unknown place in Uttar Pradesh.

When the complainant pleaded with the accused to let his sister go, he was heckled by the accused.

A police team is to be sent to Hapur on Tuesday for further investigation.
