Education official shot at in Timarpur

The police has registered a case of attempt to murder.

New Delhi: An assistant director in the Education department was allegedly shot by unidentified men in Timarpur on Tuesday evening. The police has registered a case of attempt to murder.

The injured has been identified as S D Sharma, a resident of Ghaziabad in U.P. Mr Sharma was posted as an assistant director in the education department at the Civil Lines on Lucknow Road.

The police said that Mr. Sharma was purchasing something from a local shop in Timarpur in the evening when the attackers came on a scooty and allegedly shot him on his back. Sharma fell on the road. Soon, people gathered at the spot and rushed him to St. Stephen Hospital where he was said to be critical.

Eye witnesses revealed that the assailants on the scooty saw the public gathered and fled the spot abandoning the scooty. The preliminary probe revealed that when the Timarpur police seized the scooty,  it was found that it was registered at the Dwaraka transport office. Probing further, it was also learnt that the scooty belonged to S D Sharma’s son’s brother-in-law, as per the address.
