Police scanning CCTV, killers at large.
NEW DELHI: A video of a 48-year-old property dealer, who was gunned down in his car right outside his office in Dwarka area, went viral on social media. The man, identified as Narendra Gehlot, was shot dead by an unidentified man on Tuesday evening. Police suspect enmity behind the killing.
According to a senior police official, the incident was reported around 6:30 pm on Tuesday at the Old Palam Vihar Road in Dwarka. The whole incident was captured in CCTV camera installed nearby.
In the video, Gehlot is seen sitting on the driver’s seat of the SUV and talking to a person. After few seconds, a man wearing a helmet walks up to the car after the other person leaves the scene. The man wearing helmet starts pumping bullets into the car’s windshield and through the window on the driver’s side.
An effort to escape the assassination bid is also seen as Gehlot tries to drive his car but then it veers and stops in its tracks, almost hitting the killer, who then jumps up on the roof of another parked car. Gehlot gets out of the car and movers towards his office but the man shoots some more bullets on him before fleeing away.
“Police have CCTV footage and they are also scanning other cameras in the area to identify the criminals. There were two bike-borne criminals and both of them were wearing sporty helmets. Gehlot had fought the Delhi civic polls and a case of attempt to murder was also registered against him,” said a police official privy to the investigation.
