Two malaria, dengue cases due to early summer

New Delhi: Two more fresh cases of dengue and malaria surfaced in March in thwe capital, as per a report by the civic authorities. Experts have said that warm winters and early summers could be the reason behind unseasonal cases. 

Till now, 10 cases of dengue and three each of malaria and chikungunya have been reported this year, indicating early arrival of the vector borne diseases in the capital. 

The cases of vector-borne diseases are usually reported between mid-July and November-end, but this period may stretch up to mid-December this year.

Earlier, the Delhi high court had expressed concern over sporadic reports of dengue and chikungunya at the beginning of this year. 

It had then asked the local commissioner appointed by it to inspect if waste management bylaws, which were notified recently, were actually being implemented. 

Till March 24, the municipal agencies have found as many as 1,619 houses positive for mosquito breeding and, in this regard, 2,382 legal notices were issued for mosquitogenic conditions by the civic agencies and 52 prosecutions were issued.
