Delhi: Man kills sister-in-law, surrenders

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old man brutally murdered his brother’s wife on Friday in Rohini district’s Vijay Vihar as he suspected her of having illicit affair with other men. After committing the crime, the accused went to the Vijay Vihar police station and surrendered.

“A person, namely Ram Shankar, informed the police that he murdered his brother’s wife and wanted to surrender. On further interrogation, it was found that a lady by the name of Kalawati (31) was missing since Friday night. At the instance of accused Ram Shankar, a putrefied dead body was recovered. A case of murder has been registered and investigation is in progress,” said DCP (Rohini) Rishi Pal.

“The accused was suspecting his brother’s wife, identified as Kalawati, of having illicit affair since some time. On Thursday, he chopped off her hands below the wrist, beheaded and dumped her at an isolated spot,” said a senior police official.

The officials added that during the course of investigation, it was found that the family of the deceased had made a missing complaint regarding the woman at the Vijay Vihar police station on Friday night. The body of the victim has been sent for a post-mortem and the autopsy results are awaited by the police.

“We have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code at the Vijay Vihar police station and after arresting the accused, we have taken him for custodial interrogation. Probe into the matter is in further progress,” said the official.
